From the people, the food and local businesses to the music, the art and community, the city of Columbus, Ohio comes together as one to eat local, drink local, buy local and support local one day each year. On June 14th, also the area code of Columbus, Ohio (614), 614 Day has been proclaimed by the mayor of Columbus as a day to celebrate all that the capital city has to offer.
Like many 2020 events across the globe, 614 Day was planned to take place in-person with events throughout the city. Surrounding concerns with COVID-19, for the first time the event shifted entirely to a virtual experience. Event Marketing Strategies, alongside partners Warhol & WALL ST, Create Columbus Commission, Can’t Stop Columbus and several other Columbus organizations came together to execute a robust experience for the newly imagined virtual 614 Day.
The event offered a live stream content throughout the day showcasing local artists, poets, fitness instructors and more, a virtual marketplace to engage with local business, non-profits and organizations and a socially distant drive-thru food truck experience with local restaurants.
In addition to facilitating the transition of the event, EMS was enlisted to prospect and secure partnerships with local business and organizations for the opportunity to promote their brand locally within a virtual marketplace. EMS helped the teams along with businesses and organizations seeking to participate in the virtual marketplace understand the concept of the Remo platform by hosting three-hour long training sessions.
EMS also assisted partners in transitioning their in-person activations to successful virtual ones. How to videos, live tours of facilities, integration of graphics and website links, allowed partners to have the same success they would have had at a traditional live event.
The marketplace gave partners the opportunity to engage with attendees via a video chat platform and with the interactions being entirely virtual, partners could show attendees their website, products, offerings, organization’s social media in real time.
Partners received recognition as a virtual marketplace partner not only on the 614 Day website, but also on all the 614 Day social media platforms. In addition to the virtual marketplace, live stream content and a virtual “toast to Columbus” coupled with a drive-thru socially distant food truck experience made 614 Day full of unique experiences and opportunities for both partners and attendees. Despite the change of setting, Columbus showed their support and championed local making for a successful event.
